Doctor Follow Up, Recovery is going Good!!

Posted on August 10th, 2009 in Living with Crohn's Disease, Moore Diaries by tonia moore

I went to see my GI Doctor on friday 7/7/09 and she is please with the way my recovery is going and says everything is looking good so far. They took some blood for follow tests and I go back in 2 weeks. She has me tapering off the Prednisone now and continuing my regular dose of Balsalazide (Colazal) which is for the treatment of my Crohn’s Disease & Ulcerative Colitis (IBD) Inflammatory Bowel Disease. It’s only been about a month since my surgery. My Doctor feels I’m in good condition to get in the gym and do some lite cardio even though the recommended time frame is about 6 weeks post surgery. I will get in the gym this week and start by walking on the treadmill or the eliptical but the doc wants me to wait another few weeks or so before I start any lite workouts. Watch out here I come!!! :-)

Today, this morning I weighed 120lbs that’s 23lbs in 17 days. Yay!! Not bad eh!! I’ve been eating like crazy but now that I know my body is absorbing the nutrients pretty good it’s gonna be time to clean up the diet a bit. I’ve been eating a LOT of calories….proteins, carbs, sugars, and fats. I will just have to cut back on the sugars, and fat keeping my protein levels up with some complex carbs.

This morning at 6am I had plain oatmeal and a protein shake (Muscle Milk) and now it’s time for me to eat again.

Take care, oxox

10 Fat Burning Foods - Eat & Lose

Posted on August 5th, 2009 in Moore Fit Tips by tonia moore

MOORE FIT TIPS

10 Fat Burning Foods

  1. GRAPEFRUIT
  2. LEAN TURKEY
  3. OATMEAL
  4. BROCCOLI
  5. GREEN TEA
  6. SOUP
  7. LOW-FAT YOGURT
  8. APPLES & PEARS
  9. HOT PEPPERS
  10. WATER - Drink up!!

If your goal is to lose weight don’t consider yourself as going on a “Diet” consider it a “Life Style Change” it’s about moderation and make the right food choices. You can still treat yourself to the foods you love just but in moderation….the key word here is “TREAT” the unhealthy food choices should not be the staple of your food intake. Stick with complex carbs, and lean sources of proteins, your leafy greens & vegetables, fruits low in fructose sugar.

Eating smaller meals about every 3 hours is another key to keeping that metabolism up and burning calories. A couple of protein shakes in between meals is a good idea. I drink at least 2 -3 a day to keep my protein up in between breakfast, lunch, dinner & sometimes before bed.

Thanks,

Live Smart Eat Healthy….you only have ONE Body! Be nice to it.

Again I’d like to thank my family & friends that visited me in the hospital and some more than just once, like quite a few times. My Mom & Sisters did sooo much for me and were there for me every step of the way. They really stayed strong and held it together…especially my Mom. No mom wants to see their kid go through what I went through especially when the doc tells ya “if you would’ve waited one more day to get in here you woulda been a gonner.” I’m just so thankful to be alive. Big Thanks to Rocky, Simone, & Diana for all your help & for taking care of my dog Lucy while I was stuck in the hospital for 2 1/2 weeks and my friend Keith who is one of my greatest friends words just can not describe……I love you ALL!! Thanks it REALLY made a difference. And for those who could not visit but reached out to me in other ways I thank you too. All the HELP, LOVE, SUPPORT & DONATIONS that I’ve received means a lot to me and is greatly appreciated and I’m truly Blessed!! God Bless you all!

Love & Peace, oxox
